Christmas Brandy Sauce Recipes for your Christmas Desserts


Christmas Brandy Sauce recipe
This Christmas Brandy Sauce recipe is basically a white sauce so you can feel free to add or subtract the other ingredients to your taste. The recipe states a healthy amount of brandy! However, you can vary the recipe instruction by cutting back on the amount of brandy stated if you wish and only use two egg yolks. Brandy sauce is the traditional accompaniment to the Christmas pudding but this recipe can also be used to add a whiff of brandy to Christmas steamed puddings or mince pies.





    Recipe Ingredients
    1 Pt of milk
    3 dessertspoons of cornflour
    3 dessertspoons of light brown sugar
    3 egg yolks
    ½ cup cream
    1 cup brandy




    Recipe for making Christmas brandy sauce

    Mix the cornflour in a cup with part of the pint of milk to form a smooth paste
    Heat but don’t boil remainder of the milk in a saucepan
    Add the sugar and stir. Slowly add the cornflour paste and stir until mixture thickens. Take sauce off the heat
    Separately whisk the egg yolks adding brandy and cream
    Stir into sauce until smooth
    Vary the recipe if needed e.g thicken by mixing a spoonful of cornflour in a little milk and adding to brandy sauce, or thin the sauce by addling a little extra milk and brandy
