Christmas Cookies are an integral part of Christmas fare. The shops have hundreds of enticing Christmas Cookies but there is no comparison with homemade Cookies . The wonderfully pervasive aroma of Christmas Cookies throughout the house makes the effort well worthwhile.
Christmas Cookies Ingredients
• 16oz plain flour
• 12oz margarine
• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
• One teaspoon grated nutmeg
• 4 oz castor sugar for Christmas Cookies dough plus extra for dusting
Method for baking Christmas Cookies
1. Heat oven to 180C/gas mark 4
2. Put margarine, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl and beat until smooth
3. Slowly add flour, until all ingredients are mixed together. Ensure your hands are clean to make the dough into a ball
4. Place the dough on a floured work surface and roll out to 1cm thick
5. Cut into shapes with biscuit cutters or top of a cup
6. Place the biscuits on a greased baking tray and bake for 10 - 15minutes until golden in colour
7. Remove from baking tray onto a cooling rack and sprinkle with a little castor sugar.
