Love Spoons were traditionally (and still are) given as a present to a couple on their wedding day as well as an invitation to begin courtship. They are now given as christening presents, to celebrate anniversaries (especially the 5th Wedding Anniversary - wood) and birthdays, as Valentines Day gifts, as a symbol of friendship and good luck, and just to say “I love you”. Many are also given to friends and relatives that have emigrated to remind them of home. Love spoons are also given as “Wedding Favours” - a gift for each guest that attends as a thank you and a reminder of the day. All orders are accompanied by a gift/information card explaining the various symbols carved into the spoons and the story behind the tradition.
